Rhian edits

When I sourced Rhian because of her 'edgy' look I didn't realise she was also on the Photography and Video course as a 1st year.
This in the end made her easier to shoot and she understood better what I wanted. In 3 words she described herself as ' Caring, Loud, Independent.' I found making someone look caring difficult so I went for the loud and independent theme. I also chose to put her onto a yellow background as that is a 'loud' colour and looks striking again her hair and top. The reds go nicely with her pinky nude lips and cheeks so I think the overall colour palette worked well here.
Again, after being unable to book out the 85mm I had to use the 50mm again but I am still happy with the effect the 1.8 aperture provided.

Emilita - Images

These are three of my favourite portraits from this shoot. When I asked Emilita I asked her to describe herself in 3 words - 'Girly, Determined, Shy' I found it difficult to show how to be shy but I think the first image where the camera is clearly very close to her face and her expression looking slightly uncomfortable helped to put this across. The below picture is completely different to the first one as it shows a slightly more of a fiery expression.

Unfortunately because I couldn't reserve the 85mm as it had already been booked I had to use the 50mm lens for these images.

Colour Palette

To make sure I was choosing back drop colours that would inevitably compliment each other when placed next to one another I started to research what colours actually went together and I came across this colour chart that really helped with not only what colours to pick but what order I will show them in.

Colour or Black and White?

At this stage I wanted to see if I preferred my images in colour or black and white before i progressed. Even though I love the detail and contrast from the black and white image I prefer the impact from the coloured. I also think the colour helps to bring out his features and is an easier way of portraying s persons mood in the photo.
For my exhibition I think that having a set of big colourful portraits on the wall will catch more peoples eye.

Time- Pictures

Before this shoot I briefed Time on what I wanted and sent him some example photos of poses so he knew what to expect. To help get his personality across I wanted him to bring clothes that he felt most comfortable him/ were his favourite. I beleibe fashion is an easy way to express yourself so I thought this would be a good idea. As he wears makeup on a day to day basis I asked him to bring what products he wear with him so we could also use them in shoot. I then asked him to describe himself in 3 words- Happy, Laid back, Independent. I wanted to try to use these key words and put them across in my photos.
